4 out of 5 stars love this bike but...   July 13, 2010

I love this bike but pedal is too close to front wheel. When I turn, my foot touches the front wheel. Is it only me or is there anybody experiencing same problem?

4 out of 5 stars Nice, entry-level bike   June 23, 2010
Bartimus Max (CA)
Bought this for a taller than average 9 year old girl. With the seat all the way down, it is still about 2 inches too high for her, but she rides it, just mounts and dismounts "creatively" (Okay, so I'm lazy, I didn't do the whole measure your kid for a bike thing...). The bike came super fast with Prime shipping (noticed the price has now dropped by about $20-$40) and was VERY easy to put together. Set-up was probably about 30 minutes. The quality looks good and this was the lowest price bike I could find anywhere that had TRIGGER shifters, not the lame "grip-shifters" that all the kid and entry level bikes seem to come with (the kind you rotate on the handlebar to shift). The main purpose of buying a bike like this was so she had gears to help her get up steep roads, inclines and small hills. The seat is a little stiff and will probably be uncomfortable on longer rides (will replace with different seat). The front suspension is fine, and the pull-brakes were easy to set up and work great (unlike other bikes I have dealt with). I don't think I would take this on any hard trail mountain bike runs, but for riding around town, light trails, parks, neighborhoods as an entry level "mountain bike" it's great. My only complaint is that the gears will not shift properly which results in clanking and noise in some gears. This is an adjustment issue, and seeing how I am not a bike maintenance guy, I will either have to look up how to adjust it myself or take it to a shop for a tune-up. This is a common issue with out-of-the-box bikes though, so I actually anticipated this...Oh, my daughter loves it by the way, the color, the style, and when she's not riding it, my wife can borrow it!

4 out of 5 stars good bike   June 1, 2010

Well, the bike it is exactly what I expected. It was really easy to assemble, less than 30-45 minutes, and really easy. Brakes and change of gears were connected and adjusted, so it was only necessary to attach the wheels, handlebar, seat and the pedals, really easy.

About the bike, it was for a gift, but I've tried several times, and the the final user it is really happy. It is a little lighter than a steel bike, and the change of gears is really smooth. As it is a bike for girls, to lock the bike, it is necessary to buy a u-lock and a cable, because of the frame shape.

Definitely, a good bike

4 out of 5 stars Poor instructions   June 1, 2010

Seems like a good bike but assembly was tough. I'm a handy guy but I couldn't follow the instructions. I got it mostly assembled but couldn't get the shifters adjusted. I ended up taking it to a bike shop for a professional "tuneup"

5 out of 5 stars Schwinn Bike   March 20, 2010
A. Meyer (New York, NY)
I LOVE MY BIKE! I have had this bike since 2008 and I get stopped and am given compliments on it all the time. I have been told it is a great fit. It runs great. I exchanged the tires for commuter tires for about 20 dollars, and I ride it on average 8-16 miles per day. I also exchanged the seat for something a little more comfortable for really long rides. The seat that comes with it is perfect for the average rider. It comes with a release gear so no tools are needed to adjust the seat height. The assembly is easy for someone who can follow directions. (I am lucky, I have a handy boyfriend). I agree with the other reviews, any new bike should be taken to a bike shop for gear adjustment. I have only had to do this once before my first ride, and it shouldn't cost more than 10 dollars. This is a great bike for the price. Hurry before it is gone.
