Heat and being stored completely full or completely empty are what age a battery fastest. Many makers suggest storing it partly charged in a cool, dry place; check your manual for its range.
Safe things to check
- Check it every month or so and top it up if it's dropped low.
Looking after it
- Not in a hot car, garage attic or direct sun.
- Away from exits and things that burn.
- Use the charger made for it when topping up.
