Also called: disc rotors, discs
What it does
Larger rotors brake better and cope with heat, which is why many e-bikes use them. Many rotors have their minimum thickness stamped on them.
Signs of a problem
- Pulsing when braking
- Rubbing sound every wheel turn
Safe things to check
- Look for bends or deep grooves.
- Don't touch a rotor right after a long descent; it gets very hot.
Looking after it
- Keep oil and lube off rotors.
