What it does
Class 2 e-bikes have a throttle. Some bikes only let the throttle work after you start pedaling, or have a separate setting for it.
Signs of a problem
- Throttle does nothing
- Motor runs on its own or won't stop (stop riding and switch off)
Safe things to check
- Let go and check the throttle springs back fully.
- Look at the throttle cable for damage. Look; don't pull on it.
- Check your manual: some throttles only work once you're moving.
Looking after it
- Keep the throttle clean so it doesn't stick.
- A sticking throttle is a safety problem; have it replaced.
