Also called: PAS, assist levels, eco / tour / sport / turbo
What it does
You choose an assist level (often Eco, Tour, Sport, Turbo, or 1 to 5). Higher levels help more and use the battery faster. Class 1 and Class 3 e-bikes are pedal-assist only.
Signs of a problem
- No help even though the display is on
- Help that stops at a certain speed (that's the legal limit for your bike's class)
Safe things to check
- Make sure an assist level is selected, not OFF or 0.
- Squeeze and release both brake levers; brake sensors cut the assist.
- Look for an error code on the display.
Looking after it
- Use lower assist levels on flat ground to save battery.
