What it does
Dirt, water, corrosion or a loose fit here causes power cuts, charging problems and heat.
Signs of a problem
- Power cuts over bumps
- Charger won't start charging
- Burn marks or melting (a danger sign)
Safe things to check
- Switch off, remove the battery, and look at the contacts: clean, dry and straight. Look; don't poke.
- Any burn marks or melting: stop using it and treat it as dangerous.
Looking after it
- Keep connectors dry; let them dry fully before charging after rain.
